Gender

Voor wie nog een citaat zoekt om weer eens wat bij de koffie-automaat te bekvechten tussen mannelijke economen en vrouwelijke sociologen, hier is er een van Linda McDowell  uit haar paper "Economics of Gender":
"The economic end of the social sciences conventionally is characterized as rational, hard, scientific, and factual  and, in its adherence to quatitative modelling and mathematical representations, as rigorous, spare and elegant: all masculinist traits, which are drawn on to distinguish economics from the 'softer' social sciences'. (cursivering van mij -kjp)
De rest zal ik je besparen want anders hebben we straks helemaal geen vrouwelijke economen meer. Het 742 pagina dikke Oxford Handboek Economic Geography had wat dunner gekund, maar ach, een afwijkend geluid moet ook kunnen.
