Van oude bedrijven die internet voorbij laten gaan

De 1997ste blog wijden we aan het Future Internet. De EU publiceerde onlangs een socio-economische analyse van de Europese Internet Bedrijfstak en het Future Internet Public-Private Partnership.
De onderzoekers (o.a. van de Rand Corporation) keken ook even of gebruikende bedrijfstakken als agriculture & food, energie, transport & logsitiek, milieu etc. nut hebben.
Jazeker zo constateert men, want er zijn obstakels voor innovatie in die sectoren. Ik citeer: "...the relatively low uptake of advanced internet services in these sectors does highlight the importance of innovation barriers at this stage. Initiatives to push efficiency and drive change in sectors such as food and agriculture, energy and transport should involve large numbers of SMEs. They will be the most innovative application and service adopters, in many parts of the value chain and regions. [..] Resistance to change is also evident from existing players. This inertia is reinforced by current practices, business models and contractual forms. It inhibits large-scale adoption of promising solutions. Moreover, these entrenched attitudes are not well-suited to the dynamic and open culture of the Future Internet." 
Helemaal overtuigd ben ik niet, want er is ook onderzoek waaruit blijkt dat juist grotere food bedrijven verder zijn met IT, waar sme nog worstelen.
