Een lijstje beleidsprocessen, in volgorde van doorkomst:

1. recognition of a problem
2. investigating the nature of a problem and identifying conflicting assumptions with respect to the problem situation
3. identification of possible solutions to allieavate, mitigate or resolve the problem
4. analysis of policy proposals (ex ante)
5. selection of a policy option
6. implementation of the selected policy option
7. evaluation of the selected and implemented policy option (ex post)
8. discontinuation of poorly performing or unnecessary policy options
